A priest has died after men armed with knives slit his throat inside a church in the French town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, near Rouen, this morning.
A second person is reportedly fighting for his life.
Two men armed with knives entered the church through a back door and took hostages as morning mass was being held.
It is understood that the two assailants were shot dead by police.
The identity and motives of the attackers remain unclear.
