French gangster gets sprung from jail by gunmen and escapes in a helicopter

Like something out of a James Bond movie, French gangster Redoine Faid has managed to escape from a max security prison.

The Frenchman was serving a 25 year sentence in a prison near Paris for his involvment in an armed robbery that went wrong and saw a policeman killed in the line of duty in 2010.

The French Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet revealed that a helicopter landed in a courtyard in the prison on Sunday.

Authorities believe it was a very well orchastrated escape with drones used for surveliance before the escape.

It’s understood that two gunmen jumped from the helicopter while a third stayed in the chopper with the pilot who had been held hostage.

The used concrete cutters to get the notorious criminal out as he was chatting with his brother at the time during a visit.

The pilot was released unharmed and the chopper was later found burned out.
