French police warns of the dangers of Facebook dare

Police in France are warning young people about the dangers of a dare spreading on social network Facebook that has left a young man dead and another severely injured.

French Police confirmed that a 19-year-old man had drowned after riding his bicycle into a port in western Brittany while a friend filmed him.

Another youth was severely injured for life after diving head-first into shallow water near Calais.

This latest online challenge targeted at young people, dares them to jump fully clothed into icy water while friends film it. A spokesman for the French police has said  “Don’t be influenced by a stupid phenomenon of the moment,”

This latest Facebook craze comes after the neknomination challenges of last year in which a number young people lost their lives, as they where targeted to drink large amounts of alcohol as a part of an online dare.
