Family members and fellow students of the victims killed in the Berkeley balcony collapse have gathered at a church for a vigil in remembrance of four of the six students.
The coffins were carried into St. Columba Catholic Church in Oakland, where relatives and students gathered to pay their respects. Several officials from the city of Berkeley also visited the church during the evening, including the city’s mayor, chief of police, and emergency personnel who responded to the original call.
Thirteen people in total fell about 50 feet when the fourth floor balcony collapse. Six of them died at the scene and seven remain in hospital, though two of these are understood to be doing well and will recover fully.
