Maybe St Patrick needs to come back and rid the country of rumours. It’s been revealed that Micheal Martin has allegedly accepted a grovelling invitation from Enda Kenny to enter a coalition government together.
Martin has reportedly said he’ll go into government as the minor party in supporting Kenny as Taoiseach.
The other option on the table is a split Prime Ministerial position – this is where both Kenny and Martin split the governmental term with both being and swapping the positions of Taoiseach and Tanaiste.
Unfortunately for both parties, the options look very much a feather weighted mostly because of the fact that party members around the country from both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail will object to the rivals letting bygones be bygones and going into government together.
The strongest option, as we reported yesterday, is still another election within a month.
