Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan: We can’t blame terrorism on any one religion

Yesterday afternoon the Deputy Commissioner for the gardai, John Twomey said that the gardai could respond to a similar Islamic terrorist attack as that of what happened in London at the London Bridge and Borough Market on Saturday night within 8 minutes.

He made the remarks on whether Ireland could sustain such an attack and whether the gardai had the capabilities of coping with such an Islamic terrorist attack.

The Metropolitan police responded to the Islamic attack, from receiving the first phone to taking all 3 Islamic terrorists down, within 8 minutes.

Twomey claims that gardai could also respond within the same time frame.

Meanwhile Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan said that we can’t blame terrorism on any one religion. She also said that there’ll be an additional 20 members to the Armed Resonse Unit (ARU) next year.
