There has been a slamming of comments made by Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan this week.
Speaking in a direct response to the Islamic terrorism in London at the weekend, O’Sullivan said that we cannot blame terrorism on any one religion.
This has been slammed on social media as “poor taste” considering that people were stabbed after being shouted at by the Islamic terrorists that “this is for Allah” and “Islam, Islam”.
Meanwhile, Dputy Commissioner for the gardai, John Twomey said that the gardai could respond to a similar Islamic terrorist attack as that of what happened in London at the London Bridge and Borough Market on Saturday night within 8 minutes.
He made the remarks on whether Ireland could sustain such an attack and whether the gardai had the capabilities of coping with such an Islamic terrorist attack.
The Metropolitan police responded to the Islamic attack, from receiving the first phone to taking all 3 Islamic terrorists down, within 8 minutes.
Twomey claims that gardai could also respond within the same time frame.
