Garda controversy: More calls for Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan to go – but she says she’s “going nowhere”

There have been fresh calls for Noirin O’Sullivan to hang up the hat and call it it a day as the head of the gardai.

The Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan said that she’s going absolutely nowhere and is standing defiantly against the government by saying she has “a journey of work to do”.

O’Sullivan was responding to questions on her role as Commissioner but instead she announced radical reform of the Garda Traffic Corps.

The move comes following the many controversies over fixed charge notices and the unbelievable exaggeration of garda breathalyser test figures by more than 1 million.

O’Sullivan said: “I am absolutely committed to making sure that we continue to deliver on the transformation and the change and the reform agenda that I committed to Government we would do.”
