Gardaí in Dublin have officially launched a murder investigation today after a young man was shot dead in a gangland shooting in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
It is understood the man aged 24, from Artane in Dublin 5, was killed after he was shot in the head in Moatview Avenue in Coolock at approximately 2.30am this morning.
Gardaí say the victim was talking to friends in the area before the shooting occurred.
They also say they are keen to talk to witnesses who were in the area at the time of the shooting.
