Gardaí in Co Roscommon are currently searching for a prisoner who escaped from custody whilst attending a hospital appointment on Saturday.
According to RTÉ News, the prisoner who was being remanded in custody at Castlerea Prison escaped from custody whilst attending an appointment at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.
It is understood the man was being held after he was charged with burglary.
The Irish Prison Service say they are currently in liason with Gardaí and a search operation has begun.
