Motorists are advised to be extra vigilant on the roads this morning, and over the next 48 hours as a cold snap takes grip across the country particularly at night and in the early morning.
Temperatures plunged to -4c overnight and the coming week will continue to see lows of -2c and -1c.
Gardai have asked motorists to give themselves extra time for their journey and drive slower to curtail the chances of skidding or crashing in the icy conditions.
