Gardai and customs officials have confirmed that 216,000 cigarettes were seized at Dublin Port following a search on Friday morning.
It is believed the discovery of the cigarettes worth an estimated €100,000 was made after customs officials searched a container which made its way from Singapore.
Gardai say the cigarettes which were found inside ‘Malboro’ boxes, would have cost the Exchequer in the region of €97,000.
