Gardaí and Customs officials have confirmed that they have seized more than eight million cigarettes at Dublin Port.
The cigarettes worth an estimated €4m were seized whilst officials carried out a search on freight which arrived from Rotherham.
Customs officials say the cigarettes would have represented a €3.3m loss to the exchequer.
Meanwhile Gardaí have said a man aged in his 20s has been questioned over the seizure and an investigation is currently ongoing.
