Gardai appeal for witnesses as hit-and-run upgraded to murder investigation




Gardai are appealing for witnesses after they’ve upgraded a hit-in-run which occured in Tallaght, Dublin on Thursday night to a murder investigation.

Stephen Lynch, a 32-yr-old father of three died after he was hit by a car on Brookview Close in Tallaght at 7pm.

Gardai now claim that Stephen Lynch, from the Glenshane Estate, was driven over on purpose by a silver Ford Focus car with a registration of 10-WW-1812.

They have since siezed two cars which are being forensically examined over the coming days.

It’s believed that Mr Lynch was walking in the area when he became involved in a verbal row with up to four men in the car. The verbal row then escalated and Mr Lynch was driven over.

It’s understood that all four man ran from the area with some leaving in a red Volkswagen Polo.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them on the Confidential Line 1800-66-61-11.
