Gardai appealing for witnesses to Dublin city centre assault

Gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses to an assault which happened in the city centre which has left a 33-year-old man in critical condition in hospital.

The assault took place at around 9.30pm on Wednesday on Aston Quay, Dublin 2. The injured man was rushed to Saint James’ Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Gardaí are currently looking for a man in his 20s or 30s, described as being well-built with dark hair. He was understood to have been wearing a light coloured t-shirt, grey hoody top with white writing on the front and grey tracksuit bottoms. Gardai say before the attack the suspect removed his hoody and t-shirt and put them back on following the incident.

The suspect ran from the area in the direction of Westmoreland Street in the company of two other males who were wearing dark tracksuits.
