Gardaí calling for a new legislation that would see all motorists carry a €50 emergency pack in their vehicles

It has been reported that Gardaí want the government to introduces a new legislation that will require all motorists to carry an emergency pack in their cars.

It is believed the new legislation, would see motorists being made to carry the packs, which apparently includes a torch, high visibility vest, a warning triangle, a first-aid kit and a fire extinguisher. If the new law was imposed motorists would have to purchase a pack which costs in the region of €40-€50, Gardaí also say the new packs would be mandatory and if any motorist who hasn’t purchased one would face a on the spot fine.

Gardaí say they are also considering the possibility of issuing penalty points if the packs are not present in vehicles. Gardai say the introduction of the emergency kit will improve visibility at the scene of accident which would result in lives being saved.
