A transgender woman living in a Direct Provision Centre in Galway has sadly passed away.
According to RTÉ News, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice and Equality confirmed the woman’s death earlier today.
It is believed the transgender woman originally from Cameron was living in the men’s wing of the centre.
Gardaí investigating the death say they are waiting on the results of a post-mortem examination in order to determine the cause of the woman’s death.
