Gardaí issue an appeal for information after a 13 year old boy tragically dies following Co Wicklow crash

Gardaí in Co Wicklow have appealed for witnesses after a teenager was tragically killed in a car crash in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí say the 13-year-old was seriously injured when the car he was a passenger in collided with a ditch. It is understood the driver along with the boy left the car and walked towards Roundwood from Annamoe before they were picked up by a passerby.

However the young boy’s condition quickly deteriorated and he died en route to Loughlinstown Hospital. Gardaí also say the male driver of the car, in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and brought to Wicklow Garda Station.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have travelled this road prior to 6.40am this morning in either direction and who may have seen the collision or observed or passed the two males walking the road

Anyone with any information are being urged to contact them at Wicklow on 0404 – 60140, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
