Gardaí in Co Cork have confirmed that a murder investigation is underway following the stabbing of a 24 year old man on Thursday.
The investigation comes after the man who has been named as Conor Quinn from Loughrea was stabbed during an altercation in Mallow at approximately 8:30pm on Thursday evening.
It is understood Mr Quinn sadly died due to the extent of his injuries he sustained in the incident which occurred on Bridge Street in the town.
Gardai say results of a post-mortem examination have determined the cause of Mr Quinn’s death but they have not been released due to operational reasons.
They also say investigations are currently ongoing.
