Gardaí in Limerick City have launched an investigation today after the body of a 78 year-old woman was discovered in her home this afternoon.
It is understood the investigation comes after the woman was found deceased by a relative at her home on New Road in Thomandgate, at approximately 1.30pm this afternoon.
Gardai say the investigation comes after the woman was found dead with injuries which suggests there may have been foul play.
