Gardaí launch murder investigation after Co Monaghan man who was left in a coma sadly passes away

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 36 year old man who was left in a coma last January.

The investigation comes after the man Séamas Bell, sadly passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda over the weekend.

Mr Bell from Foxfield, Carrickmacross, was tragically left comatosed following an alleged assault on Main Street, Carrickmacross, last January 20th.

However following a post mortem examination on Mr Bell’s remains Gardai say they have now launched a murder investigation.

The murder investigation comes after a 34 year-old man was arrested on the 21st January in connection with the investigation.

Gardaí say the man is currently remanded in custody in Cloverhill Prison and is due to appear in court on the 21st June.
