Officers from the Gardai have seized a large amount of Guns, antiques, paintings and cash in a series of co-ordinated operations against organised crime gangs.
It is understood that thirty premises were searched as part of the operations in Dublin, Kildare, Cork and Louth by specialist units including elite armed officers, the drugs and fraud squads and the Criminal Assets Bureau. A spokesman for the Gardai told reporters: “This investigation has been ongoing for some time and this phase of the operation is to gather evidence in relation to suspected criminal activity.”
Gardai also seized a number of other items in the searches these included documents, computers, money, a shotgun and a handgun, antique furniture and paintings. Gardai say that all the items seized will be subject to a full technical examination.
However no arrests were made during the operation.
