Gareth Bale proved to be the hero as bad handling errors by Laruis Karius, gave Real Madrid a 3-1 victory to claim their third Champions League crown in as many years.

Liverpool who had high hopes going into tonight’s final in Kiev, were left wondering what if as they were beaten by a Madrid side determined to make it three in a row.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were dealt a major blow when talisman Mohamed Salah suffered a major shoulder injury after Sergio Ramos dragged him down in what was a clear foul.

The highlights of a game that showed little of what fans of both sides have become accustom to, didn’t come to life until the second half when a Karius howler gave Karim Benzema an easy opener.

The Frenchman who is a renowned poacher, seized his opportunity when he pounced on a poor throw by Karius that left the ball to roll into an empty net.

Liverpool who have previous experience of historic comebacks, were give light when Sadio Mane tapped in a Lovern header from six yards out.

However the Premier League side were then undone by a Zidane masterstroke, when the Madrid coach brought Bale.

The Welshman who has had something of an underwhelming season, quickly made his mark within three minutes of coming on when he scored a superb overhead kick that was worthy of winning any final.

Although Liverpool pressed to get themselves back in the game, their faltering challenge was all over when Karius made yet another howler after failing to save a a 35 yard strike by Bale.

Madrid who have now made history by becoming the first side to lift the title for three consecutive seasons in the modern era.
