Police in the North have confirmed that 13 people were hospitalised following a suspected ammonia gas leak at fish processing plant in Kilkeel this afternoon.
In a brief statement released this afternoon the PSNI confirmed that 13 people were taken to Daisy Hill Hospital for treatment.
It is believed that the Fire Service of Northern Ireland was alerted to the incident which occurred at the factory on the Harbour Road at approximately 12.30pm this afternoon.
Although a major was declared it was quickly stood down after the source of the leak was quickly identified.
Police say 13 people were taken to hospital but thankfully there were no major causlities.
