The controversial TV/Radio pundit and presenter George Hook has taken to social media over the past 24 hours to apologies for his comments on rape.

Hook who has his own daily debate programme on Newstalk FM has been the subject to extensive criticism regarding his comments about the serious issue which he made during a live discussion last Friday.

The former Rugby star who is no stranger to controversy took to Twitter on Monday to issue an apology to his listeners and to those deeply affected by the issue.

In the brief post Hook said: “My comments about rape during a recent show were completely unacceptable.”

Although Hook’s apology was published in the hope to rectify his mistake, the presenter could soon very well find himself in more hot water as the station is currently conducting a review into his inappropriate conduct and they are expected to make a decision regarding his future before the weekend.

It is believed that many of Hook’s current co-workers have been upset about his comments and are calling for him to be taken off air.
