Germany is in the midst of its most serious political crisis in over 50 years

Germany is in the midst of its most serious political crisis since 1949 after Chancellor Angela Merkel, leader of Germany’s Christian Democrat Party, failed to secure a viable coalition.

This is now the first time since the end of the Second World War that Germany is left without a viable government following a General Election.

Merkel and her party the CDU along with the other mainstream establishment party in Germany the Social Democrats have plunged in popularity after Germany, and Europe in general, suffered disastrous and tragic consequences after they backed total open borders for migrants from the Middle East and Africa.

Merkel and her allies in the EU have still refused to back down from this unpopular policy, which has now led to the political deadlock in in Bloc’s largest and most influential member.

Conversely the nationalist, anti-mass immigration party, Alternative for Germany (AFD) has surged from obscurity to the third biggest party in the Reichstag but has been ruled out as a potential coalition member.
