Get the hats and scarves ready – Ireland’s temperatures are about to plunge

We might have had one of the balmiest autumns to date but Ireland’s temperatures about to take a severe nosedive.

Forecasters say temperatures are expected to take a sharp drop in the middle of next week with severe frost and icy conditions expected.

Britain has been forecast to see temperatures of -4c with Ireland not much warmer.

A severe easterly wind from the eastern Europe is expected to make its way here by Wednesday with temperatures expected to drop well below 0C at night time.

Rain is expected in patches but the main issue with the weather this week will be up to a 10c shift in temperatures from midweek on.
