Give them a pay rise: Michael O’Leary is proud of his social media team after their controversial ‘Immigrants fly Aer Lingus’ tweet

While some found the tweets captioned ‘immigrants fly Aer Lingus’ to be in bad taste, Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary is rather proud of his social media staff.
Following an incident where two Aer Lingus staff assisted an immigrant through Dublin airport, Ryanair’s social media posted the tweet, along with the picture of a ‘man-sized’ catering box carrying a man.

O’ Leary was typically unapologetic about the tweets, saying he would probably give the staff involved a pay rise.

He said: “I didn’t think they were particularly funny last night when they went out, but I must say I am highly enthused by the reaction and response they have got.

“If we can upset that many snowflakes through Twitter and on social media as well as entertain probably an equal number of somewhat less snowflakey people, I intend to give our social media team a well done note and probably a pay rise.”
