Going For Gold: Team Ireland take medals haul to 70 at Special Olympics after an amazing day which saw the nations athletes claim 37 medals in total

Team Ireland have yet again out done themselves after they claimed a further 37 medals in one single day at the Special Olympics World Games, in Los Angeles.

A number of athletes from across competing in a number of sports made the Irish nation proud after they capped a remarkable day yesterday after they collected a major haul of 37 medals beating the total haul they collected the from five previous days of competition. The winning of 37 medals now takes Team Ireland’s total haul to 70.

The majority of medals won yesterdays afternoon came gymnastics with the Irish team picking up four gold, seven silver and three bronze at the LA games. The country’s golfers also cleaned up by taking home eight medals, which included one gold, five silver and two bronze. The remaining medals were won in kayaking, bowling, equestrian, athletics and aquatics.

TheLiberal would like to congratulate all those who took part in the games and for making Ireland proud. Well done team Ireland!
