Going on a holiday to America? Irish tourists may have to hand over their social media account passwords before entering the USA

New homeland security measures Stateside will see immigrants, refugees and even tourists having much stricter vetting before gaining entry into the USA.

The new regime will be applied to all visa waiver programme countries, which includes Ireland and the UK.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that under the new vetting system, social media accounts would be examined including passwords, public and private posts and even private messages.

The proposed vetting is a direct aim at stamping out unwanted intruders into the United States and a major effort to crackdown fully on illegal immigration and most importantly terrorist attacks.
