A large gold deposit has been discovered at a site in Clontribet, Co. Monaghan.
A test drilling site at the location yielded 517,000 ounces, worth about €546m. The company that carried out the drilling, Conroy Gold and Natural Resources, said that the surrounding areas might contain 15 to 20 millions of ounces.
If confirmed, the ore could be worth billions of euro.
