Good Friday alcohol sales ban is officially lifted as President Higgins signs changes into law





It is official the Good Friday ban is over from today onwards as President Michael D Higgins officially signed into law the changes to the intoxicating liquor Act.

The new changes which will see an end to 90 year old law, come after the Dail overwhelmingly voted to end the ban last week.

Following the changes to the law which will now allow the sale of alcohol products in pubs/ off licences and shops, the Minister for State said the move was a welcome boost to Ireland’s tourism.
