Good news for residents in the North East as Irish Water confirms that the Staleen Water treatment plant has once again become operational




There is good news for residents in the North East this morning as Irish Water have confirmed that the Staleen water treatment has once again become operational.

The news which will be welcomed by over 100,000 residents comes after testing on the replacement fitting on the main pipe that supplies the station has proven to be successful with no further leaks reported as of yet.

However Irish Water have confirmed returning the water supply to thousands of households in the Drogheda area and surrounding areas will take a number of days and it won’t be until the weekend that normal service will be resumed.

The company also say the latest repair work is only a temporary measure and they hope to complete further works on the main in the next fortnight although there will be less disruption during the process.

Meanwhile the company have also confirmed plans to undertake further works over the next 18 months which will see over 2.2 kilometres of piping to the plant replaced at a cost of €3m.
