It has emerged this afternoon that the Government has approved a €480m bailout fund for the health executive.
It is understood that the fund will be used to tackle a major spending overrun so far this year, and also for a so-called ‘winter initiative’ that aims to deal with the ongoing crisis at A&E departments nationwide.
