Government considering new measures that could see public sector workers being paid a minimum of €11.50 per hour

According to reports this evening the Dáil are said to considering introducing new measures that will see public sector workers being given the ‘living wage’ of €11.50 per hour.

It is understood discussions have begum after the Labour called on the government to increase the minimum wage for civil servants along with zero-hour contracts with unpredictable hours for workers.

However, the latest call may fall on deaf ears as Government will instead favour its own motion which would make the Living Wage voluntary for employers.
