The Government have announced that the Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy is currently finalising plans that will see a new housing agency being set up in order to tackle the ongoing housing crisis.
According to RTÉ News, Minister Murphy who has come under increased pressure to address the ever growing problem, will present proposals before the Cabinet in the hope that a new Land Development Agency will be established.
It is understood that more affordable housing will be built under the agency which will have €1.25bn at its disposal.
Speaking about the latest developments, the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said the new venture could eventually end up on par with other state agencies including the IDA and the ESB.
Mr Varadkar who was attending Fine Gael’s annual think in, also said the new agency aims to provide affordable social and private housing to all.
