Authorities in Greece have confirmed that 74 people have been killed in wildfires near Athens.
In another update Greek rescue services say the death toll has risen due the raging fires on Monday.
Those battling the blaze say 26 people were tragically found huddled on a beach.
It is believed the vast majority of the group were families who were trying to flee the raging fire which has destroyed homes in the towns of Mati and Rafina.
Police say a further 164 adults and 23 children are being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.
It is believed strong gale force winds have caused the fire to spread at a rapid rates, destroying a number of buildings and homes within its path.
