The funeral of Cathriona White has taken place this afternoon and Hollywood star Jim Carrey was in attendance along with Ms White’s family and friends.
Ms White was laid to rest in the village of Cappawhite, Co Tipperary, where she is will buried beside her late father Pat. The funeral Mass took place at Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Cappawhite earlier were Fr Tadhg Furlong, parish priest, paid tribute to Ms White. Fr Furlong told mourners that Cathriona’s family and friends are faced with a life cut short, a vision not fulfilled, a dream not realised. Ms White aged 30 a make-up artist and former girlfriend of Dumb and Dumber star Carrey, was tragically found dead in a house in Sherman Oaks, California, on September 28th. Ms White moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and worked as an extra on a television show before working behind the scenes.
Ms White began dating Carrey, 53, back in 2012 before breaking up back in May this year. Fr Furlong told mourners: “Cathriona’s approach to life was to take on, to challenge the county, the country, the world,” the priest told mourners. “You remember the outgoing personality the strong-willed, determined character.” Fr Furlong added: “Cathriona was a light to so many. Something of the light has gone out. Yet much remains. “The light continues to shine. The light of love lives on; the love you had for Cathriona; the love she had for you.”
It is also understood that a number of gifts were presented at the funeral service including a Gaelic jersey and a football to signify Ms White’s love of Gaelic games, family photos and make-up brushes. Mourners also heard about Cathriona’s passion for photography and how she documented the lives of the homeless in LA.
