Grounded: Aer Lingus and Ryanair cancel flights out of Dublin airport due to the adverse weather conditions

A large number of flights out of Dublin Airport have been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

The news comes after both Aer Lingus and Ryanair issued statements this afternoon declaring cancellations for a number of UK and European flights.

It is understood that Ryanair will have no flights operating out of Dublin Airport today (Wednesday) with all scheduled flights grounded.

Meanwhile Aer Lingus say they will operate some flights to the UK this evening, however most of their flights to European destinations have been grounded.

Both airline companies say they will provide further updates on their website and all those scheduled to board a flight will be notified via SMS and email.

It is expected further flights will be grounded on Thursday as further snowfall is expected overnight tonight and then again throughout the day on Thursday.
