The growing unrest within the Labour Party has seemingly gotten to highs as the party’s Environmental spokesperson Alan Kelly has called for change.

Mr Kelly who is many people’s favourite to take the job within the party has taken a firm swipe at the current party leader Brendan Howlin who is coming under more pressure to step down.

Speaking on Tipp FM, Mr Kelly who all but declared his interest in taking the role said the party is in need of radical shake up that would bring more energy and a different vision to the position.

Mr Kelly who stated that he had nothing against current leader Brendan Howlin also said he feels the change is needed as poll numbers for the party is extremely poor.

Although no official leadership challenge has been called, Mr Kelly told the station that things must change if the party he loves is going to implement any real change in the future.

The latest call for Howlin to step down comes after five councillors previously called for the Labour leader to step aside for the good of the party.
