Update: Three Ireland have released a statement saying that no Irish customers were affected by the cyber attack.
There are many concerned Irish users of the Three network, as their personal data may have been compromised during a severe security breach at the operator’s sister firm in the UK.
The hackers were able to access names, phone numbers, addresses and dates of birth, but reportedly no financial information was compromised.
It was initially thought that Irish customers were not affected by the attack.
The perpetrators began upgrading customers’ accounts, then intercepting the new phones.
The attack has raised concerns that data belonging to millions of customers may be sold online or elsewhere.
