The adage expression is “Once Halloween is over, it’s the start of Christmas”. With more and more shops starting Christmas immediately after Halloween, we spoke to one woman who climbs the attic ladder and decorates her house in the first week of November.

Have you your Christmas tree up yet? Is it too early, or can it every be too early?

Jane Farrell from Drogheda told The Liberal she definitely doesn’t think it can ever be too early:
“I just love Christmas and everything about it. I always do it early in November, and myself and my son Josh enjoy it every year”.
“For me it’s the build up to it. Myself and my son, Josh, just love Christmas and everything about it. We love the cosy nights in front of the fire and the putting up of the Christmas tree, we get a really lovely warm feeling from it.”

Asked when Jane usually puts her tree up, she said:
“I put it up early as it puts a smile on our faces which is worth seeing the excitement on my son’s face. I do it every year in the first week of November. I get good and bad comments but it’s my house and it’s what I enjoy.”

The friendly and festive lady concluded with:
“I keep the tree up until after the 6th of January, just like everybody else. I don’t take it down early or get sick of it because I enjoy every single minute of it.”
