Head of the National Children’s Hospital board says the hospital’s location is not up for debate despite recent poll claiming it is being built in the wrong location

The head of development board behind the building of the new national children’s hospital has said the location of the hospital is not up for debate.

According to Eilis Hardiman, the Development Board will not reconsider its plans despite a recent poll which showed thar 73% of people believe that the St James’s Hospital site is the wrong location for the new children’s hospital.

Ms Hardiman told newstalk’s Pat Kenny: “We don’t believe the location is up for debate.” “The decision was made on clinical reasons and that the services on offer in St James’s Hospital surpassed those elsewhere.”

“Evidence of better outcomes on similar set ups can be found in Glasgow, Sweden and Manchester.” Ms Harriman’s comments come after a Newstalk/Red C Poll* found that only 20% of people surveyed agree with the inner city site.
