The Health and Safety Authority have confirmed that they have launched an investigation following the death of a man in Co Leitrim over the weekend.
It is understood the investigation comes after the man aged in his 50s died whilst trying to fix a lock on a stretch of the Shannon-Erne waterway near Leitrim village on Sunday afternoon.
Gardai say the man’s body was recovered from the waterway at approximatley 7pm on Sunday evening and was taken to a near by hospital were a post mortem examination took place.
Meanwhile the HSA has they are currently reviewing the case in order to determine the cause of the man’s death.
