The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has today opened an investigation into an incident that caused serious injury to at least 12 people at Tayto Park last night, leaving nine in hospital.

The lower stretch of a permanent staircase leading up to the brand new House of Horrors attraction suddenly collapsed, causing a large number of people to fall to the ground.

An emergency plan kicked into action, and ambulances and Gardai were soon at the scene. Nine people were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The park remained open, however, and it’s expected to be open for business today as usual.
