The Department of Health have called on health care professionals not to use their computer systems today until their security system is fully checked.
The call comes after the recent WannaCry cyber attacks which have infected more than 200,000 computer systems in nearly 100 countries.
Although no attempted hack was successful here in Ireland, health care officials are concerned for the safety of patients information after there more attacks over the weekend.
It is understood the cyber attacks which have emanated from the US uses a sophisticated software that locks files or network systems until a ransom is paid.
