The Irish health system is in a chaotic state, after doctors employed through agencies strike over a pay row.
It is understood that the doctors’ pay was cut back from €40 to €34 an hour, sparking an instant industrial action. Many doctors did not show up for work today as a result.
If the strike continues, many A&E departments countrywide may have to shut down, as they are staffed largely by temporary workers.
The Minister for Health is yet nowhere to be seen, nor does he appear to be doing anything to mediate in the dispute.
