Heartbreaking: 17 month old killed after he was struck by a vehicle in a busy hotel car park

Police in the Greater Manchester area have launched an investigation after a 17 month old boy died after he was reportedly hit twice by a vehicle in a busy hotel car park on Thursday evening.

According to the Manchester Evening News the infant was sadly killed after he was stuck twice by the vehicle believed to a Toyota Rav-4.

Although a number of attempts were made the save the boy’s life by both members of the public and paramedics, it is understood he tragically died at the scene as a result of his extensive injuries.

Reports say a number of eyewitnesses heard loud screams in the area before police and rescue services arrived at the scene.

The paper also reports that a number of witnesses were scene comforting a distraught woman moments after the devastating incident occurred.

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Police service revealed that the tragic incident happened in the rear car park of the Ibis Hotel on Trafford Road, Salford Quays.

They also say police were first called to reports of a collision involving the youngster and a Toyota Rav-4, which had a Latvian number plate, shortly after 9pm on Thursday evening.

The spokesperson added that police are currently investigating the incident but they believe the infants death was the result of a tragic accident.
