The sickening incident happened in an housing estate in the Enniscorthy area of Co. Wexford.
The WSPCA and the county dog warden were called to the scene by a member of the public who reported seeing a puppy being swung by its leg by a bunch of kids.
The animal was retrieved by the warden and taken to a veterinary clinic. Upon examination, the vet realized the leg was shattered and it could only be amputated. The dog is now said to be recovering from the ordeal, and that a new home has been found for him.
