Heartbreaking: Charlie Gard’s parents pay tribute to their terminally ill son after they withdraw application to bring him to the US for experimental treatment

It was a truly heartbreaking day for the parents of brave little Charlie Gard as they withdrew their application to bring their terminally ill son to the US for treatment.

The distraught parents Chris Gard and Connie Yates, made an emotional statement earlier this afternoon in which they said they now know their brave son won’t reach his first birthday due to the severity of his condition.

They went onto say that they don’t regret fighting to save their son’s life as they believed they could as world renowned specialists gave them hope by offering their opinions on Charlie’s case.

The brave parents also said they believe that their terminally ill 11 month old son would be a normally healthy baby today if their previous attempts to provide treatment hadn’t been blocked by courts both in the UK and the EU.

In an emotional statement Charlie’s mum said:”All we wanted to do was to take our child from one world renowned hospital to another, we are so sorry we couldn’t save you.”

“Sweet dreams, baby.”

The devoted parents have now said they fully intend to spend and treasure their remaining time with Charlie who is not expected to survie until his first birthday in two weeks time.
